Description
Regulatory Officer
(Permanent – Full Time)
Applications are invited for a varied and interesting role that is responsible for regulatory compliance in respect of dog and animal control, application of various other council bylaws and general inspector duties.
This is an important role that has significant engagement with the community and it is essential that good working relationships are maintained to the greatest extent that is practical without compromising key principles.
What you will need:
- Experience in a customer facing role or other position with substantial customer contact.
- Strong interpersonal skills with good experience and ability in managing conflict situations, able to be firm where required.
- Ability to learn, understand and apply rules, regulations and legislation.
- Experience and confidence in working with dogs.
- Sound written and verbal communication skills including the ability to prepare reports and letters.
- Sound basic computer skills including capability in Microsoft Office.
Hours of work will be up to 40 hours per week, between 8.00am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, but the position holder will also be required to be available ‘on call’ to respond to urgent dog and animal control issues at certain times outside these hours, for which an on-call allowance will be paid.
