Description
Kaikōura District Council is seeking a proactive and customer-focused Customer Service Officer to join our team. This is a dynamic role where you’ll be the first point of contact for our residents, visitors, and internal teams, helping us deliver outstanding service and strengthen community relationships.
About the Role
As a Customer Service Officer, you’ll provide friendly, accurate, and helpful service across multiple channels – in person, by phone, and online. You’ll manage enquiries, support administrative processes, and help optimise systems to ensure smooth operations. You’ll also play a key role in improving workflows, supporting automation initiatives, and providing insights through reporting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering exceptional customer service and resolving enquiries at first contact.
- Handling cash transactions and balancing tills.
- Maintaining accurate data in CRM systems and supporting data quality initiatives.
- Assisting with process improvements and automation projects.
- Collaborating with stakeholders and providing training where needed.
- Using dashboards and reports to monitor performance and provide actionable insights.
- Supporting health and safety practices and participating in Civil Defence training.
What We’re Looking For
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Comfortable with technology and data systems (CRM experience is a plus).
• Positive attitude, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.
• Cash handling experience is desirable.
